Faculty Introduction:

Our speaker is Kari Boyce, Assistant Professor, in the Department of Radiologic Technology and Interim Associate Dean of the College of Allied Health, University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Her Bachelor's degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography is from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. In 1989 she completed her Master's Degree in Adult and Community Education at the University of Oklahoma, Norman campus and is near completion of her Ph.D. in Education from the same institution.

Kari Boyce is a member of the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine and Oklahoma Sonographers Society. She has served as a committee member and presenter at local, state and national levels.

Kari has been a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in Abdomen and a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer in Adult Echocardiography, since 1984. Since 1990, Kari has served the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers in multiple capacities including: item writer, member and coordinator of Ultrasound Physics and Instrumentation Exam Development Task Force, Exam Development Committee, MedSim Task Force and currently is a member of the Board of Directors.

Even though Kari received her first computer instruction in the early 1970's, it wasn't until she started helping teach a core curriculum computer course in 1987 that she embraced it as a useful tool. Purchasing a 386 notebook in 1991 was the turning point for expanding her "PC" computer competence and using computers for classroom instruction. Since then, Kari has coordinated the computer course, guided the planning, purchase, installation and upgrade of the college computer network, served the campus on a variety of computer-related committees and as the college webmaster, converted the 1996 catalog to the web. Over the past year Kari has provided over a dozen in-house HTML / Web Page presentations, most in 2-3 hour hands-on sessions. She oversees the college's Faculty Development Web Grant Program along with other administrative duties.
