Gynecologic Pathology- Pap Smear I
Question No. 15. The Answer is: (D) Tubal metaplasia.

Discussion: This is a group of cohesive and crowded glandular cells. The nuclei are round to oval and slightly enlarged; chromatin is evenly distributed and nucleoli are not prominent. Some cells on the surface have cilia (arrow). This is consistent with tubal metaplasia. It is important to recognize this benign condition and avoid misdiagnosing it as atypical endocervical cells.
