Gestational Trophoblastic Disease

Question No. 17. The Answer is: (D) Type of previous chemotherapy used.

Discussion: The World Health Organization (WHO) prognostic index incorporates many factors to yield a composite risk score that places the patient into the following categories: Low, Medium, or High risk. It incorporates age, interval between pregnancy and start of chemotherapy, type of pregnancy (mole, abortion, term), ABO blood type of mother and father, pretreatment hCG, largest tumor size, site and number of metastases, and previous chemotherapy failure. While the number of prior drugs is included, the type of chemotherapy is not part of the index.
