Nervous System- Infection & Inflammation I

Question No. 19. The Answer is: (D)  Trichinella spiralis.

Discussion: Trichinella spiralis can invade individual muscle fibers and modulate them to create an intracellular environment suitable for the growth and maturation of the parasites. This process will evoke a eosinophilic inflammation. The larvae will slowly mature into cysts. CNS infection is a rare event  but has been well documented.
