Nervous System- Infection & Inflammation I
Question No. 22. The Answer is: (B) Brain abscess.

Discussion: In this photo, the cells are almost exclusively degenerative polymorphonuclear leukocytes. In macroscopic terms, it is pus. Although Langerhans' cell histiocytosis should be considered, there is a lack of Langerhans's histiocytes and a lack of eosinophils. It is very clear that these cells are not lymphocytes and there is no atypia. Thus, the diagnosis of lymphoma is not likely. There is also a lack of atypical glial cells to make a diagnosis of glioblastoma. A light degree of acute inflammation can be seen at the very early stage of an infarction but should not be associated with these many neutrophils.
