• Dermatomyositis  

• Polymyositis

• Inclusion body myositis

• Eosinophilic polymyositis (in hypereosinophilic syndrome)

• Granulomatous myositis

• Sarcoidosis

• Granulomatous myositis not associated with sarcoidosis

• Giant-cell myositis (in association with giant-cell myocarditis, myasthenia gravis, auto-immune thyroiditis, and thymoma)

• Wegner’s granulomatosis

 Non-inflammatory myopathies* Head

•         Merosin deficient congenital muscular dystrophy

•         Fukuyama’s muscular dystrophy

•         Other muscular dystrophies including Ducheene and Becker's muscular dystrophy

* It is not uncommon to see a small amount of inflammatory cells in muscular dystrophies particularly the merosin deficient type congenital muscular dystrophy.
