Discussion:
-
Pathology: The salient pathology is the cystic
lesion in the putamen (Þ) . This is a case of resolved and old lacunar infarct
and is most commonly seen in patients with hypertension.
- Neurofibromatosis 1 (NF1)) is not associated
with lacunar infarct. NF1 is associated with glioma of the optic
tract-hypothalamus area.
- Neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson
disease, Huntington disease, and Alzheimer disease do not produce
lacunar infarct per se.
