Department of Pathology, University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center
Our Mission
OU Cases of the Month is designed as a supplement for regular residency training at the Department of Pathology of the University of Oklahoma. It is organized by Drs. Kar-Ming Fung and Ravi Sawh. This site provides our residents easy access to our interesting cases. The focus is on uncommon cases with classic pathologic features or common cases with unusual pathologic or clinical features. Cases which involve lengthy discussion on uncertain or controversial issues are featured on the Case Report pages on our Departmental web site.
The case material and discussion is reviewed by our organizers and also a faculty member who specialize in the applicable field. Residents and fellows in our program are closely involved in the preparation of the discussion of each case.
Cases are typically posted as “unknowns” at the beginning of the month, and discussion is posted in the following month.
Pathologists of OU Health Science Center and outside institutions are welcome to contribute cases to OU Cases of the Month. We prefer glass slides, original electron micrographs, gross photos, and images, in order to insure premium quality. If this is not possible, we also accept photographic slides, photographs, and digital images. The editorial staff will generate a Case of the Month web page from the submitted material. The pictures and discussion with be discussed with the original contributor before the web page is linked to OU Cases of the Month. Our designated resident or fellow will work closely with the contributor and the supervising OU faculty member during preparation of the material.
Cases of the Month If you wish to contribute a case, please contact Drs. Kar-Ming Fung or Ravi Sawh.
