Former Associate Projector Leader:

History: NeuroLearn was launched by Dr. Kar-Ming Fung in the fall of year 2002. The goal was to build an integrated training program that would maximize the benefits of computerized teaching material, lectures, and person-to-person teaching on macroscopic and microscopic neuropathology. The central theme is to link the three most valued components in training, namely material, motivation, and enlightenment by computer technology. NeuroLearn emphasizes guided self-learning and enlightenment by the instructor in an environment with easy assess to information. The targeted audience are pathology, neurology, neurosurgery, and neuroradiology residents who rotate through the neuropathology service as well as medical students, graduate students, and other individuals who has an interest in neuropathology.

NeuroHelp was launched in October 2002. NeuroSim, followed by NeuroTest, was started in February 2003. NeuroSim shares cases with OU Pathology Case of the Month, also a web-based teaching program headed by Dr. Kar-Ming Fung. A digitized lecture note for medical students with integrated internet links to NeuroLearn, OU Pathology Case of the Month, and other websites was first introduced in the academic year 2003-2004. Neuropathology Lecture Series (NPLS), an educational activity jointly sponsored by the Department of Pathology and Neurology, was introduced in July 2004.

From October 2002 to March 2004, Dr. Richard Leech, Jordan-Heartland Professor of Residency Training by then, gave strong support to NeuroLearn and donated a substantial volume of material from his personal collection. He also had major inputs on the overall design of the project. Dr. Leech retired in March 2004.
