BACKGROUND AND CLINICAL INFORMATION:
Head
Anatomic
locations:
The
cerebral hemispheres are usually not affected.
Spinal
cord and medulla. The cervical and lumbar enlargements are more
frequently involved. Usually affect the anterior 2/3 of the gray matter.
In
bulbar cases, there is in most of the nuclei of motor cranial nerves.
Sensory nuclei are usually unaffected. dense cellular infiltration in

Sensory nuclei are usually unaffected.
HISTOPATHOLOGY AND IMMUNOHISTOCHEMISTRY:
Head
Acute
stage:
meingomyelitis, predominently lymphocytic cell infiltration. In the later stage,
there are hypertrophied microglia, necrosis of neuron, and neurono phagia.
Long
after the attack: neuronal loss in the anterior horn, gliosis, and
demyelination.
